Within the framework of these 23 interconnected global risks
tracked by the Global Risk Network are several that map to
the areas identified by CII and the Forum which are critical to
the future of India (in terms of their likelihood and/or the
severity of their impact). Risks to India were identified,
assessed and ranked with each of the following risk families:
societal, geopolitical, economic and environmental. Beyond
those discussed in this report lie other risks facing India that
could prove equally challenging. The objective was not to
rank risks, but to focus on areas that are already at the fore |

and where, perhaps, greater impetus is required for mitigation
and to identify opportunities. The report is intended to provide
a succinct analysis of some of the critical issues facing India.
The four areas of focus: Economic Security, Energy Security,
Agriculture and Food Security and National Security, are not
separate, isolated issues on the risk landscape; their drivers,
triggers and consequences are highly interconnected. India’s
role in the region and in the global economic and political
landscape will largely depend on how it manages many of
these issues over the next decade and beyond. |
